Runway Show

Coach FW25 Runway Show took place the Park Avenue Armoury in New York City. We were tasked with the creation of multiple 3D visualisations and views of the venue, along all production design elements. A 3D model of the venue was loosely created in Rhino to represent the surrounding environment. It was roughly textured in dark tones, as these areas would fade to black once the lighting layer was added in Unreal.

The runway set consisted of large custom printed drapes, a bench layout, and a central band display. The curtains were triplanar UV-mapped in Unreal to ensure accurate graphical texture placement. Spotlights with a custom gobo blueprint were used to add depth and texture to the curtains, positioned at varying intervals with alternating intensities and attenuations. Another set of spotlights with a custom gobo blueprint was created to mimic sunlight streaming through a window. Rectangular lights illuminated the runway paths, with barn doors controlling the light falloff for both pre-show and show lighting setups.

The overall lighting design in Unreal was kept simple, utilising Lumen. Since there were no additional environmental lights outside the set, increasing the indirect light intensity for all lights helped eliminate excessively dark areas. Finally, to subtly restore contrast, a vignette effect was added to the cameras.
